Picking out a REAL Christmas tree every year is our all time FAVORITE family tradition! Full disclosure, this is only the second year of that tradition BUT I'm here for it! With the craziness of this year, finding ways to feel like life is "normal" has been tricky BUT not impossible. Since traveling isn't really an option for us right now, taking a "trip" (more figurative than literal...lol) in our city seemed like a fabulous idea!
First stop, Family Tree Nursery! This year more than ever, supporting local businesses
this holiday season has been a goal of mine. This local, family owned nursery is one of our favorite places to explore and feels like we're "getting away". They also have the most GORGEOUS Christmas trees. We picked out a Fraser Fir and named him Bob (does everyone name their Christmas tree, or is that just us?)
Since pictures with Santa won't be happening this year, the cardboard cut out Santa was the next best thing! Shout out to Family Tree Nursery for creating a fun alternative for kids. We loved traditional Santa, BUT vacation Santa was our FAVORITE!
During our mini road "trip" we took the opportunity to spread a little Christmas cheer and give back to people in our community with help from Phillips 66. Partnering with them this year has been a wonderful reminder that enjoying the simple joys in life and being grateful for them is the best way to Live To The Full! And what better way to spread that beautiful message than giving away a few Phillips 66 gas gift cards!
Audri was excited to be "Santa's helper" and pick a few people working at the nursery to gift with gas cards while we explored. She also thought it would be fun to send a few gift cards to Santa...his sleigh needs gas, right?
After picking out our tree, Bob, and exploring the gorgeous plants in the greenhouse, we were ready for the next part of our "trip"! And it wouldn't be a real road trip without nearly running out of gas, right? Shout out to Phillips 66 for saving the day once again. I love using their store locator on the My Phillips 66 app. The mobile pay option the app offers is also super convenient; I can pay from the warmth of my van. Right now you can also save 10 cents per gallon (up to 30 gallons) per fill-up at participating Phillips 66 locations through 3/31/21.
Next stop, PIZZA! Introduced my mini adventurers to New York Style Pizza...you know, the thin slices bigger than your head!
Our last and final stop was ice cream; yes, we're those crazy people who eat ice cream, outside, in the winter. Another mini adventure in the books and wow am I grateful for these memories with my little buddies and the reminder to find a way to #LiveToTheFull each day.
*This post is in partnership with Phillips 66. All thoughts and opinions are mine.
the photos are outstanding, cardboard Santa was clever, not driving right now, will keep Phillips 66 on my radar for the future. All the Best!
Loved this!
